Impact Wrenches - The Tool Every Garage Mechanic Can't Be Without
An impact wrench, also recognized as an impactor, air wrench, air gun, rattle gun, torque gun is a socket wrench power device created to deliver higher torque productivity with minimal exertion by the user, by storing energy in a rotating mass, then delivering it suddenly to the output shaft.
In operation, a rotating mass (the hammer) is accelerated by the motor, storing energy, then all of a sudden connected to the result shaft (the anvil), creating a higher-counter rotation impact. The hammer mechanism is created such that after delivering the impact, the hammer is once more permitted to spin freely, and does not stay locked. The hammer style demands a particular minimum counter rotation before the hammer is allowed to spin separately from the anvil, causing the tool to stop hammering and instead smoothly dr the fastener if only low counter rotation is required, rapidly installing/removing the fastener.
Compressed air is the most widespread energy supply for impact wrenches, providing a low-price design with the greatest energy-to-fat ratio. 1/4" drive wrenches are generally available in both inline (the person holds the tool like a screwdriver, with the result on the end) and pistol grip (the consumer holds a deal with which is at correct angles to the result) kinds, and less commonly in an angle dr, which is comparable to an inline instrument but with a set of bevel gears to rotate the result 90 degrees. three/4" generate impact wrenches are once more essentially only available in pistol grip kind. Each types usually also include a aspect deal with, enabling both hands to hold the device at once. A recent design combines an impact wrench and an air ratchet, often known as a "reactionless air ratchet" by the manufacturers, incorporating an impact meeting prior to the ratchet assembly. Several users select to equip their air-powered impact wrenches with a short length of air hose somewhat than attaching an air fitting straight to the device. As the output of an air impact wrench, when hammering, is a very brief impact power, the real efficient torque is tough to measure, with a number of various ratings in use. If the productivity is springy or capable of absorbing energy, the impulse will simply be absorbed, and virtually no counter rotation will ever be utilized, and somewhat counter-intuitively, if the object is very springy, the wrench may truly turn backwards as the energy is delivered back again to the anvil, although it is not connected to the hammer and ready to spin freely. Accurately controlling the output counter rotation of an impact wrench is really challenging, and even an experienced operator will have a difficult time creating sure a fastener is not undertightened or overtightened using an impact wrench. When extremely precise torque is required, an impact wrench is only employed to snug down the fastener, with a counter rotation wrench utilized for the final tightening.

Is this tool set worth the price?
I know it's ebay and all that but you can ignore the price. I'll be paying $25 shipped if I buy it. Do you think it's worth it for the what it offers. I've been to Home Depot, Lowes and Sears and I know it's not Craftsman, but for 200 pieces it couldn't be that bad for home use, right?

Don't waste your money. It's a very cheap set of tools that has no guarantee. The name Craftsman doesn't mean much any more. Yes Sears still guarantees their Craftsman hand tools, but they aren't what they once were.
Home Depot now "owns" the Husky brand of tools. Most of their hand tools are lifetime guaranteed for home use. They are decent tools. I own many of them. The thing is, you need to keep the receipt and original case, as some stores will want to exchange the whole set because of one broken tool. This is mainly due to THD stopping to carry separate wrenches/sockets in their stores. I believe it was a big theft issue.
Anyways, for what you are paying for and the shipping on a no name set of tools, you could get a lifetime guaranteed set of Husky that is either much larger, or costs less.
