98 Mercedes Benz S420 Transmission Fluid?
Is it ok to use Lucas Transmission Fluid as a additive? How do you change the Transmission Fluid Filter Kit?
Benz does not recommend any additives for their transmission and considering the cost of a replacement electronic transmission, I wouldn't add anything other than the Benz synthetic transmission fluid either.
Changing the transmission filter is the same as it is on most other trannies. Drop the pan, replace the filter and the gasket, refill the transmission. You'll need 4 litres of fluid if you're replacing the fluid lost from the pan, 8 litres if you're flushing the entire transmission including the torque conv. Just remember that the car does not come with a fluid level dipstick. You'll either need to buy the tool or take the car to a shop that has one so they can check the fluid level for you.
