Installing a rear view mirror that has fallen is a simple job. It's important to know how a common mistake could break the windshield if this simple task is done improperly. It's very easy to glue the rear view mirror button upside down. I worked with someone years ago, that made this mistake. When he tried to remove the metal button from the windshield so it could be glued back on correctly the windshield was cracked! This simple job cost the company we worked for at the time, $350 to have a replacement windshield installed. Read on to find out what type of adhesive is recommended, the step by step instructions on how to secure the fallen mirror and what to do if the button was mistakenly glued on upside down.
Rear View Mirror Installation Tips (50 to 75 Degrees Fahrenheit)
- Use a rear view mirror kit made specifically for bonding the rear view mirror back on (like Permatex Rearview Mirror Adhesive).
- Separate the button from the rear view mirror. It is either held together with a screw or a spring retainer; the type without a screw will be pryed off with a screwdriver.
- Mark the position where the mirror will be re-glued. Use a crayon or piece of paper tape on the outside of the windshield.
- Scrape the old glue off of the inside of the windshield and the button. Clean the windshield and button with rubbing alcohol.
- The activator vial has a separator built into it, squeeze the vial until the inner portion breaks, the two parts will mix and is ready for application.
- Do not touch the surfaces with your fingers, apply the activator generously to the windshield and button. Allow to dry for 2 minutes.
- Open the adhesive and apply ONE drop to the center of the button (apply to the correct side of the button). One drop only, more isn't better.
- Immediately hold the button in place on the windshield being sure that the it is right side up. Hold firmly for 60 seconds.
- Wait for fifteen minutes before mounting the mirror to the button.
If the button was glued on upside down or the wrong side to the glass, DO NOT try to remove it. Prying or heating to remove an incorrectly installed button may result in cracking the windshield! It's best if this happens to purchase a new button and bond it on top of the incorrectly installed button.
Be careful not to cut yourself with a plain razor blade, it's recommended to use a scraper like we have at DenLors Tools that holds the razor blade more safely. If the mirror is held in with a screw, it may be a torx type and not a regular philips.
Your Xbox 360 Freezes?
So you just brought a brand new Xbox 360, and you already find your Xbox 360 freezes after few round the clock gaming? You would be happy when we announce that this is the problem faced by many Xbox owners as of now. It is luckily in most cases not your fault. It happens to lie in the very design of the Xbox 360 consoles. In order to give the Xbox 360 the sleekest looks, the developers have crammed all the electronics inside a small pushed arch box. There are two chips inside the Xbox 360 as you know it; the CPU and the GPU. These happen to be the most important chips inside the console which take care of almost everything that happens inside the console. Once the Xbox 360 is played for a long time, the CPU and the GPU start getting heated up; added with the inadequate system for the ventilation, it tends to freeze your system which is why your Xbox 360 freezes. Usually the system shuts down, in order to prevent the damage for critical components. When every time the console heats up, the soldering that is done to hold the components starts breaking, leading to a red blinking light indicating the problem
There are various reasons why an Xbox might be freezing; it need not be the overheated hardware all the time. First reason of course; is the reason we just discussed above, the overheating of the GPU and the CPU; which is a major reason why your Xbox 360 freezes. Sometimes it is the disc which might create the problem. If you have been popping a scratched or almost broken disc inside the console and expect it to play you a high FPS game, please do not blame it. In most of the cases the freezing issue is related to the updates that are required to play a particular game. When the updates that are required for the proper functioning of the game is not available on your console, there are a lot of chances of you console being frozen. One more reason that can cause the freezing problem is the cache issue. Whenever the cache memory of Xbox is full, the game you are playing will not be able to load the temporary resources onto the cache, hence your Xbox 360 freezes.
There are ways with which you can fix these issues. Every time you need not have to rush to the repair shop to give away huge sum of money for a minute problem. But before you can get your hands dirty with this job, it is a good advice for you if you can do a quick research on the same, and find some videos which would prove very useful in this regard. Anyways, let us go ahead and see what we can do. First you have to open up the console using fine tip poker and remove the faceplate and the latches that hold it. Under the plastic case, there would be metal case which should be removed using Torx 10 screw driver. Remove the motherboard and the fan. Carefully remove the fan, heat sink to reveal the CPU and GPU chips. Clean all of these and apply a little thermal compound on the CPU and GPU, its good if you use Artic Silver 5, and let it dry. Replace the heat sink back on the chips and put everything back in place. This should help you resolve the freezing occurring because of the overheating and curb all the reasons why your Xbox 360 freezes.

1990 Oldsmobile, Siloette mini van, Front wheel drive, rear tires wearing funny, posible cause?
Noticed vibration increasing in rear end, thought it was lost wheel weight but not the cause, I put my foot on top side of tire and pushed and you could hear a, "clunk" "clunk" and the wheel moved side way shift..... ahhh bearings! Never done this style before, I jacked rearend, removed both rear tires and used a torx driver, removed both rear bearing housings. Different from the old cars with the differential as you remove 4 bolts and the sealed bearing housing and tire studs come off as a unit...interesting. I turn the stud assembly and all feels fine, nothing seems loose or grinding...hmmm... so I suspect once I lower the car and put 1,000 so odd pounds it will manifest itself so figure I will change the bearing assemblys.
Both rear tires are worn extremely bad on inner side.
I am guessing cause would be from the bad bearings and play in that. Rear shocks look oily, could this contribute to the worn tires if the shocks are no longer working or is this strictly bad bearings?
yes it can but i think this has 4-wheel independent suspension,,and if so,, its possible it,s really bad out of alignment if this is the case and your shock,s are that bad,,it will cause some slack,,but as for the slack when you put your foot on it,,this sound,s more like a bad bearing, check see if it does have 4-wheel independent suspension,,if it does look at the control arm,s,the bushing,s may be worn out,,if so this is a dangerous thing to drive on,,so be careful,,till you get it fixed,,in some cases,,this can cause a wheel to lay over on it,s side, causing you to wreck,,if your un-sure,,put a jack under the wheel,,and have someone else wiggle the wheel,,while you look under it,,you may see your problem easier that way,,hope this help,s you get it fixed.
Feature: How-to: replace your MacBook Air SSD with OWC's Aura Pro Express
Apple launched updated MacBook Air models in October of 2010, featuring new, compact, and (originally) proprietary form-factor solid state drives (SSDs). The SSDs have so far only been available to OEMs directly from Toshiba, despite the fact that the SSD is the only user-replaceable part in the MacBook Air. It took a few months, but long-time Mac upgrade source Other World Computing stepped up ...
