When I think about golf equipment over the last 25 years, one of the best improvements, innovations, or upgrades would be spikeless golf shoes. Not many old timers will agree, but I think we are in a long over-due era. Spikeless golf shoes are here to stay.
Not long ago I started up golf after a 15 years hiatus. While digging out my old clubs I came across a pair of my high school golf shoes from the late 1970s. They were actually still intact. Great leather upper FootJoys with leather sole and metal spiked cleats. " Hey" I said to myself, "I can put some new spikes on these and be ready to go." So, I got a spike wrench out and tried to unscrew the metal spike to no avail. I put it in vice clamps using both hands, could not budge these metal spikes. Of course, they had been that way, rusted in place, for 30 years. I laughed. Then I went and bought a new pair of golf shoes, spikeless!
Remember the endless repairing of spike marks before a putt? Remember the awkward feel of a missing cleat, the feel of tearing up the carpet in the pro shop, the necessity of meticulously cleaning of every last spike after a round so the dirt and moisture wouldn't work its way into the metal cleats?
The high maintenance of the old golf shoe is gone forever.
I don't know what brought on the mandatory spikeless rules of today, but somebody somewhere between 1989 and now decided that golfers were not to wear metal cleats anymore. I don't think there's a golf course out there that will allow you to wear metal cleats these days. Some of the old timers think that you're not getting the same benefit. Those cleats really anchored you to the ground. They provided the traction you need for a game which depends on the amount of torque you can generate. I haven't had my head in the game for more than a decade, so here is my take on the bennies of spikeless, having worn them now for a little while:
1. Less wear and tear on joints. When you lock the foot in place like you did with early golf footwear, spiked golf shoes, the torque that your knees, hips and shoulders bore was much greater than with spikeless golf shoes. So, less joint injuries are probably going to happen. I once had Peter Egoscue, physical therapist to golf stars, tell me that his ideal would be that everybody would play barefoot. Shoes were a barrier to sensory input and numbed the senses of the bottoms of the feet, which are necessary for balance and coordination. That was true of the old golf shoe. It was like wearing winged tipped dress shoes with spikes on the bottom.
Playing golf barefoot would allow balance and coordination issues to improve. The traditional golf shoe was an impediment to that. What's great about the new designs is they can be made to be a lot more like tennis shoes with pliable soles. The spikes are arrayed in a pattern that provides traction without isolating the foot joints so that you have less wear and tear on the joint and the ankle and on the knee, and by extension the hip and shoulders and lower back. So, that's one of the great benefits.
2. The ability to wear them off the golf course. For instance, the other morning I had a friend call me up with an open tee time. I was on my way out the door, and I thought, " I'll just throw my golf shoes on now." I went into the office for a couple of hours, and then jumped in my car, ran from the parking lot to the golf shop just in time to make my tee time. I played five hours of golf, and then met my wife for dinner, all without changing my shoes. So, spikeless golf shoes allow a person to go from the course to the mall, to restaurants, to shopping malls, without creating a racket or without sliding around like you're on ice skates.
3. Less moving parts, and low maintenance. Although many spiked golf shoes have cleats that can be twisted off with a golf cleat, they are plastic and they twist off much more readily. If they break off, you can at least pull them out with a pair of needle nose pliers. If you use dry spikeless golf shoes, there are no moving parts. They just have an accentuated tread with larger nubs on the outside of each foot to provide a backstop for the torquing motion, and multi-directional treading on the interior of the foot to make sure that anybody that weighs over 100 pounds can create enough friction with the ground to make a difference.
So, as far as ease on the joints, multi-purpose use and low maintenance, spikeless golf shoes, in my book, are the way to go. They should be here to stay, and low maintenance, spikeless golf shoes, in my book, are the way to go. They should be here to stay.

Excellent Product
I will keep this review short simply because other reviewers have aleady explained all of the product's specifics.
I received a Leatherman Wave from soldiers on a military deployment of my own some three years ago. I was mostly new to multi-tools, although I was currently carrying a gerber multi-tool which was issued to me for deployment.
I don't believe a day went by in which I did not find a use for this Leatherman. It is put together very well and has lasted me through present day. The only wear that concerns me thus far is that my pliers are beginning to slightly misalign. This is no fault of the Leatherman though because it was taken a terribly large amount of abuse, both from myself and all of my acquaintances.
If this Wave breaks I will more than likely pull money out of my pocket to buy another. I basically came here to praise this product because on a daily basis for years it was served me very well. Thank you Leatherman!

Great tool
I have a couple of different multi tools - but picked this one up for camping - my wife and I are planning to do more of. Took it with me a few weeks ago and used it almost hourly - it seemed to be just what I wanted each time something was needed - worked great to help with hooking and unhooking the trailer - the blade is very sharp - used it to help with a fire one evening -
All around I am very pleased with this product - would recommend it to anyone - it will be part of my camping from now on

A very good tool
This is the second Leatherman tool I have owned. I have a PST II that is still in great condition, but I decided it was time to upgrade.
The Good:
1. Locking blades. This is my biggest criticism of the PST II. The blades and screwdriver bits don't lock, so if you are really bearing down on something, it can close on you.
2. Rounded grip surfaces. This makes the pliers very easy to grip and squeeze.
3. A good variety of tools.
The Bad:
1. The scissors don't appear to be as solid as the older scissors. They cut fine, but they are thinner and seem almost dainty.
2. The non-blade tools are difficult for me to open. I don't have very good fingernails, and the nail-nicks are very hard to get to. I usually have to get out a coin to open them, and conbined with the stiffness of the hinges (an otherwise good thing), they are hard to access.
All in all, I really like this tool. It is heavy, but I don't consider that a bad thing. the hinges and locks are all very typical Leatherman--they are all tight and firm. My PST II is a few years old, and all the hinges are tight on it as well. I would not hesitate to recommend this tool to anyone.

UPVC door with a euro lock fitted, euro locked removed but door stilll locked!?
I was locked out of my house today (in the snow) so I had to try to gain entry as I have no spare keys!
I removed the lock using the mole grip plier method but I still cant get the door open (its one of the doors that you lift the handle up to lock it top and bottom) I am now in the house by using another method but I now have a door with no lock in it that I can not open?
Help!
the lock is already broken and out, there are a few switches inside the door but I cant seem to get it to move, looks like i will be taking the hinges off!
If you must, you can remove the hinge pins and remove the door that way.
Then you can remove the lock and rehang the door.
