Here are some more information for Dolly Hammer Auto:

Sheet metal, like car body panels, can be welded with a 115 volt mig welder like a Hobart Handler 140 IF you are willing to do these 5 things...
- Get a decent mig welding machine, preferably a good 115 volt mig welder like a Hobart Handler 140.
(Actually, 115 volt mig welders are often the best choice for welding sheet metal and a Hobart Handler 140 has all the features needed to weld thin sheet metal or even up to ¼" thick steel.)
- Get a gas conversion kit so you can run .023" bare wire. ( the Hobart mig welder comes with gas conversion)
Don't even think about trying to weld in an auto body patch with flux core wire. You need to get a mig welder that has a gas conversion kit so that you can use 75/25 gas and use .023" bare wire like E70s6 or E70s3.
- Get some 75/25 gas (thats 75 argon and 25 c02)
Pure Co2 is not what you want. Its fine for welding thicker steel, but for thinner sheet metal, 75/25 argon/Co2 is the ticket. It is more versatile too.
- Get an auto darkening welding helmet...(Especially if you are a noob.)
Moving even slightly off the mark before you pull the trigger can make the difference between a good weld and a big blob of crap that will have to be ground off. Unless you love to grind, get yourself a decent auto darkening welding helmet. Being able to see exactly where the tip of your wire is when you pull the trigger on the mig gun makes a huge difference.
- Use a hammer and dolly often to spread out the contractile stresses.
Sheet metal warps when you weld it... period. You can't stop it, all you can do is try to control it and then fix it. A hammer and dolly used intermittently between small stitch welds is what the pro's do to keep metal from distorting too much.
Welding sheet metal takes a bit of patience and finesse. But if you are willing to follow the rules. You can do it.

Remove Your Car's Dents
Car dents could happen to any car - even your own beloved Mazda. So you should not be quite surprised if one day you discover that your car has a dent or two in it.
Dents mar the overall appearance of your vehicle. In fact, they could show that the owner is very careless with his vehicle that is why it received dents. But you see, you actually can have these dents removed by professionals if they are huge enough. Small dents do not quite need professional services. You actually can remove these small dents yourself.
It certainly is easier to simply have the hood, the fender, the bumper, or any other parts of your vehicle with the dent removed and replace them with Mazda auto parts. But keep in mind that you would be spending much less if you do the dent-removing yourself. You do need a dent-pulling tool to do this challenge. Other tools could include a dolly, as well as a metalworking hammer.
First, go through the dent and find its center. When you have done so, drill a hole in it with a 1/8-inch drill bit. When you have the hole drilled already, put the dent-pulling tool in the hole. Pull on the tool. This would actually flatten out the dent or let it pop out. When it is already flat, try hammering the front of the dent with the metalworking hammer and hold the dolly against the back of the dent.
You can now fill the area with a body filler and let it dry. Sand down any excess after it is already dry. You can now prime the area. Use the spray primer used especially for cars. Apply six coats of the primer. But make sure that you let each coat dry before you apply the new one. Lastly, apply touch up paint that matches your car paint.

Auto body filler: drawbacks and benefits?
I have never used auto body filler. I know that it gets a really bad rap because people make entire fenders out of it and use it for other things they shouldn't use it for. However, for filling small dents that are hard to access with hammer and dolly or other hand tools, what are the drawbacks? If prep'd and sanded correctly, do I need to worry about it lifting off a few years down the line?
Do professional (read: not Maaco) body shops commonly use filler or do they have ways to get metal smooth with just metal working tools?
I'm told Evercoat Rage is much better than Bondo. Any other tips/suggestions?
Thanks for your time!
if we did not have bondo we would not have car shows!!..yes rage is an above average bondo...if you follow the proper repair procedures it will outlast the car..if you need further asst. you may email me direct ...goodluck!!
