Chips and Dents

It's frustrating when you purchase a new car and you end up with the first scratch or dent. Unfortunately they are a fact of life when you own a car, and they are not normally your fault.

If you have chipped the paintwork but you can't see the metal then you can buff it out with scratch remover and a soft cloth. If the metal is showing through then the chip is deeper, and you will have to touch it up, so use your car manual to identify the colour of the paint, at most garages you can normally but a small pot for touch ups.

What's my liability for leaning on someone's car?

To be more specific, I dented my friend's car by leaning on it a week ago. I know, it probably sounds ridiculous, but it's a 2000 Civic and apparently the materials in the front driver's side panel isn't very strong. I'm wondering if he is able to go through my insurance to get this repaired since my car wasn't involved. I assume he can't, but hell if I know. I'm pretty sure I could fix the dent with a cheap dent puller, but he is convinced that it's impossible without spending a ridiculous amount of money at a body shop. It's not a massive dent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
