Bartholomew Roberts whom history has called Black Bart Roberts was a mighty and fearsome pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy. Leaving his homeland of Wales behind, he set out to sea where little would be heard of him until he showed up aboard the slave ship Princess. Attacked by pirates commanded by Howell Davis, he would be press ganged into service. The pirate career of Black Bart Roberts was born.

Black Roberts was a reluctant pirate but very skilled at his job as a navigator earning him Davis' trust. Upon Davis' death, he would be elected the new pirate captain. His first act was to avenge the former captain, then head for Brazil. For about a year he stayed in Brazil until the area became too dangerous, being hunted by two Barbados and two Martinique ships. As a result of the attack, he drew up a new flag before moving on to the West Indies where he would plunder many more ships and bring shipping to a near standstill.

After wearing out his welcome in the West Indies, it was off to the coast of Africa. With a couple other ships under command, he had some success until he ran into Captain Ogle of the HMS Swallow. When attempting to flee a grapeshot round pierced his neck, killing him and ending his pirate career. Only three pirates died in the battle including the captain. The resulting fallout and pirate trial was one of the largest of its kind with over 270 pirates captured. Most were executed, the blacks were sold into slavery and a few were acquitted.

His death brought about, according to some historians, the end of the Golden Age of Piracy but his accomplishments live on. Among them he captured over 400 ships, halted West Indies shipping, committed piracy off three continents and created a pirate code for him and his crew consisting of 11 articles. He was one of only a couple pirates who would go on to introduce a pirate code for his crew.

Black Bart was a bit unusual in drawing up a second pirate flag but such was his hatred for the Barbadians and Martinique who pursued him. A final fact about this man's exciting life was he set sail only a year or two after Black Sam Bellamy had met his end.

Good buy for the price

I recieved the set in good time. It was advertised as new but had obviously been opened before. There was also one bit missing, tried to resolve with seller, wound up replacing bit at a minimal cost. The set works well for home maintenance and projects. I have used several drill bits and the hole saws and I am happy with the results and would recommend this set to anyone. Would not recommend purchasing from Polstein's Home and beyond.
Good assortment at reasonable price

Quite a few pieces for not a lot of money. Of course, that means they are probably not meant for heavy-duty commercial use. But for around the home it is fine.

my gums are white a bit under my teeth and i have a black spot inbetween my middle bottom teeth?

i just got my braces off and are now wearing retainers. i floss and brush daily even 3-4 times but still right now my gums are swollen and bleeding a little bit ( my ortho said to salt water rinse). i noticed the whiteness coming about 2 months ago and everytime i floss it's like the floss can break through the gums and i don't feel a thing. theres also this little annoying black spot inbetween my middle two bottom teeth and i noticed one up on the top set of teeth on the left side just right before my molar just now. it's kind of like a black spic spot right on the tooth and the gums are swollen over there, i tried flossing and brushing relentlessly, nothing.

The black spot sounds like a cavity, but it may just be a stain that the dentist can get off. You really should go see the dentist about your gums, if they are swollen and white you may have some sort of infection in them. You should make an appointment immediately,
